A solid basis for the future

The hftm is one of the leading Colleges of Higher Education in Switzerland and has a strong regional presence in precision engineering, watchmaking and medical technology, ICT service providers and energy and building automation. Around 180 lecturers - many of whom work in industry at the same time - impart skills-oriented and practical knowledge that can be used directly in everyday working life. Modern laboratory facilities (including automation, robotics, control technology, energy technology, building automation, production technology and generative manufacturing processes) support the application-oriented training. In the spirit of lifelong learning, the hftm also offers an attractive range of further training courses after the basic course.

The core offerings are federally recognized training courses to become a technician CHE (Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education) in the following specializations:

• qualified electrical engineer CHE (specializing in electrical engineering, automation)
• Graduate computer scientist CHE (specializing in software development, systems engineering)
• graduate in business informatics CHE
• qualified mechanical engineering technician CHE (specializing in production technology, construction technology)
• graduate system technician CHE (specializing in automation/ICT, automation/mechatronics)
• qualified process technician CHE (focus on operating technology, supply chain management)
• Certified energy and environmental technician CHE
• qualified building automation technician CHE

Depending on the course, it is possible to study part-time (typically 3 years) or full-time in less than 2 years. The hftm also offers various postgraduate courses, including in industrial management, automation and computer science (software development and business informatics).
