G1: Gastro basic seminar with GastroSuisse certificate
In brief:The basic gastronomy seminar is the preparation for obtaining a cantonal certificate of competence. It provides the necessary knowledge to be able to take on the responsibility of managing a small to medium-sized business. The training lasts approximately 40 days and is divided into 6 modules, which can be attended independently of each other. Those who have successfully passed all module examinations are admitted to the certificate examination. Proven school and management experience in the hospitality industry are recognized and lead to exemptions from the respective module examinations. The seminars are offered on a part-time basis or in block courses. Completed cantonal "host courses" are also recognized for the G1 course and also lead to partial exemptions.
Your advantage:The certificate is recognized throughout Switzerland as equivalent to the cantonal certificate of proficiency. In addition, you are already halfway to the Federal Diploma of Higher Education from G2.

G2: Seminar for restaurant managers with Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Federal Professional Examination)
In brief:The restaurant manager seminar is aimed at managers from the hospitality industry. You have completed the G1 Gastronomy basic seminar or have an equivalent qualification and have at least 2 years of management experience in the hospitality industry.
You will get to know and apply the tools of business management. During the seminar, you will develop your personal learning reflection dossier and apply the theoretical knowledge directly in your day-to-day work. The seminar comprises 32 days in compact 2-3 day blocks, divided into 6 compulsory modules and 1 compulsory elective module. You will specialize in a specific professional field in the catering, hotel, system catering and event management sectors on the basis of the compulsory elective module. During the seminar and with the subsequent module examinations, you will prepare for the Federal Professional Examination and qualify as a catering manager with a Federal Diploma of Higher Education within one year.
Your advantage:
On the way to G3, you will already have a federally recognized title at this level. The course is co-subsidized by the L-GAV and the state. Participants who are employed under the L-GAV can benefit from financial support. The employer also receives CHF 122 for each seminar and examination day.
New from 2017:
Employees can also apply for L-GAV support in accordance with the National Collective Labor Agreement for the Hospitality Industry (L-GAV), Art. 2 Non-applicability. One person not subject to the L-GAV (company manager, family members) per year and company is granted access to L-GAV funding.

G3: Gastronomy Entrepreneurship Seminar with Federal Diploma (Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE))
In brief:The Gastro Entrepreneur Seminar is predestined for self-employed people and managers with at least 4 years of management experience or at least 2 years of management experience in the catering industry, as well as proof of schooling at Federal Diploma of Higher Education level (Federal Professional Examination such as G2). You will take a close look at your business and your company policy. You will exchange ideas with other entrepreneurs and benefit from the practice-oriented specialist lecturers. During the seminar, you will work on various customized projects and your personal diploma thesis. The core of the seminar is a case study lasting several days with an integrated computer business game. The seminar comprises 36 days in compact 2-day blocks. During the seminar, you will prepare for the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE) and qualify as a gastronomy entrepreneur with a federal diploma within a year.
Your advantage:Successful graduates receive the federal diploma and are entitled to use the protected title "Certified Gastronomy Entrepreneur". The qualification corresponds to level 7 of 8 of the National Qualifications Framework for Vocational Education and Training.
Benefit from financial support from the L-GAV and state subsidies. New from 2017: Employees can also apply for L-GAV support in accordance with the National Collective Labor Agreement for the Hospitality Industry (L-GAV), Art. 2 Non-applicability. One person per year and company who is not subject to the L-GAV (company manager, family members) receives access to L-GAV funding. The employer receives a wage replacement of CHF 163 per seminar and examination day.
New from 2017: Employees can also apply for L-GAV support in accordance with the National Collective Labor Agreement for the Hospitality Industry (L-GAV), Art. 2 Non-applicability. One person not subject to the L-GAV (operations manager, family members) per year and operation will receive access to L-GAV funding.
