Packaging managers with a federal diploma
Packaging managers with a federal diploma take on demanding specialist and management tasks in the packaging industry. They develop and optimize packaging, plan production, manage and advise working groups.
Objectives:
Packaging managers are packaging professionals. They work wherever packaging is produced or used, e.g. for packaging manufacturers and bottling plants, but also for larger companies whose products need to be packaged.
They combine the various functional and aesthetic requirements that packaging has to meet and gain in-depth knowledge of the materials, complex systems and technologies used. They also have the necessary know-how to take on business management tasks.
As generalists, they assess packaging solutions holistically and sustainably. They consider ecological and economic aspects as well as functions such as protection, logistics and marketing when developing or optimizing packaging solutions.
With their holistic expertise in packaging solutions, qualified packaging managers make a sustainable and important contribution to the protection of products, people and the environment.
Packaging managers with a federal diploma are capable:
- Develop or optimize integrated packaging solutions, taking into account standards, specifications and other requirements.
- Apply the methods and possibilities of visual communication of packaging.
- problems of the interaction between the filling product and the packaging.
- Assess the sustainability of packaging solutions.
- Coordinate, support or manage packaging projects or their sub-processes.
- create or interpret specifications and documentation.
- use information and communication technologies in a targeted manner.
- advise and manage working groups in a goal-oriented and business-oriented manner.
Number of participants:
The number of participants is limited. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received. Registrations must be made in writing.
The SVI's written decision on admission will be made within approximately 10 days. The course costs will be invoiced by the SVI in 3 installments.
Admission to the Advanced Federal Professional Examination (AFPE):
Admission to the examination is granted to those who:
a) has a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, a Matura/Vocational Baccalaureate or an equivalent qualification and can then demonstrate a total of at least five years of practical experience in at least one specialist area of the packaging industry as well as sub-project, project management and/or management experience.
b) holds a Federal Diploma of Higher Education or a Higher Professional Examination or Diploma from a College of Higher Education or University of Applied Sciences in one of the business areas of marketing, business administration, production or corresponding sub-areas, has additional practical experience in at least one area of the packaging industry and can demonstrate sub-project/project management and/or management experience.
c) has successfully completed the module examinations.

Initial situation:
Today, packaging has to satisfy an enormous number of sometimes conflicting demands at the same time. Great importance is attached to both ecological and economic aspects. Solving a packaging task holistically requires in-depth knowledge of all aspects, functions and materials of packaging as well as the associated production processes.
Objective:
In this generalist course, participants gain an overview of all materials, functions and aspects of the packaging industry. Graduates are able to deal with packaging issues in their entirety and understand how to recognize and exploit the potential for success of different packaging solutions. The seminar concept complies with the training guidelines of the World Packaging Organization WPO. During numerous company visits, participants have the opportunity to deepen their theoretical input and make practical connections.

At the end of the seminar, participants can take an exam to prove that they have learned the content taught. In addition to knowledge questions on the content, solutions to a packaging problem must be developed and existing packaging solutions assessed.
Certificate:
Upon passing the exam, a certificate is issued that identifies the graduate as a packaging generalist. This certificate is recognized by the Swiss Packaging Institute SVI and the World Packaging Organization WPO.
