The healthcare sector is facing many challenges, such as demographic change, a shortage of skilled workers, cost pressure and digitalization. New approaches and innovative solutions are needed to meet these challenges. One of these is the as yet untapped resource of peers.

Peer work means that people who have a similar life situation or experience support, advise and accompany each other. Peers can be people with a disability, a chronic illness, a stroke of fate or an addiction, for example. Peer work has many advantages, such as

  • Peers can better empathize and understand the situation and needs of other affected people
  • Peers can serve as role models and motivators and convey hope and confidence
  • Peers can pass on valuable knowledge and practical tips and show new perspectives
  • Peers can promote and strengthen the self-determination and participation of other affected people
  • Peers can improve and complement the quality and efficiency of care and services in the healthcare sector

Become a myPeer Coach and make a difference in other people's lives!
