Anyone who completes the in-depth modules of the Swiss Society for Wound Treatment SafW can call themselves a wound expert after completing the training. In the continuing education, further training, which is aimed at qualified nursing professionals at continuing education and training / tertiary level, participants learn sound wound management and are enabled to support and advise clients in their independence and their state of health.

The following topics form the most important content of the practice-oriented wound expert training:

  • Physiology and pathophysiology of wound healing
  • Diagnostics
  • Wound care
  • Influences on wound healing
  • Chronic diseases and patient orientation

It is important that participants in the wound expert training course already regularly carry out wound care in their day-to-day work with patients and can demonstrate at least two years' experience in wound treatment. The course has a modular design and consists of four parts. In total, the continuing education, further training can be completed within one year or spread over up to ten years. Some schools also offer voluntary preparatory modules in advance on topics relating to learning techniques, time management, literature and writing.
