First of all, you should know what type of training you are looking for, what your goals are and which educational institutions offer you exactly this. Carry out a needs analysis in which you clarify what you expect from a coach training course. Then contact a few schools and have them send you all the necessary documents by email. Use the documents and possibly ask questions to clarify the following points, among others:

• What is the reputation of the school and its graduates?
• Is the course recognized by the professional association and nationally or internationally?
• What qualifications will I acquire?
• What skills will I acquire?
• Are the framework conditions defined and acceptable to me (place of implementation, time required, self-study, teaching methods, working materials, admission criteria, etc.)?
• What qualification will I receive and is it sufficient for a professional activity?
• Do I need further specializations?
• Can I have my professional experience and previous knowledge recognized?
• What training and experience do the coaches have?

Coach training can take place in very different ways. For example, there are seminars, courses and training sessions that fully train you to become a professional coach, as well as short introductory courses or basic courses that introduce you to the basics of coaching and consulting. Anyone seriously considering working in this field in the future, either as an independent consultant or as a supplement and second pillar to their existing work, should be aware that sound training and regular continuing education, further training are required. After all, in order to become a consultant, it is important both to know the theoretical approaches through coaching training and to be able to apply them usefully in practice.
This means that a short seminar lasting a few days will not be enough to provide you with the necessary technical, leadership, social and coaching skills for professional training, but it will if you just want to gain a first impression. Such coaching seminars are also extremely useful if you want to expand your skills portfolio, whether for private or professional purposes.
More extensive coaching training is also possible at postgraduate level at Colleges of Higher Education and Universities of Applied Sciences. The federally recognized diploma Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education (CHE) in Business Coaching is one of these options, as are postgraduate studies leading to a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Career Coaching (UAS) or a Master of Advanced Studies in Coaching & Organizational Consulting (UAS).

Coaching training courses such as the online coaching course conclude with a so-called school certificate.

Courses offered by schools that conclude with a school certificate are not federally regulated. This means that the course content, duration, costs and target group may differ from school to school or from course to course.

It is therefore advisable to contact the school of your choice directly if you have any questions about the specific courses on offer.

Training in coaching is suitable for very different target groups. People from advisory professions, for example in education, social work, business or healthcare, but also project managers, managing directors of SMEs, managers and HR managers, are all possible candidates. In principle, anyone thinking about training or continuing education, further training to become a coach should also be prepared to do something for these additional qualifications. After all, every training course requires commitment and willingness to learn, motivation and, last but not least, sufficient time from the participants. This is because, in addition to attending classroom courses, you must always take into account the time you spend on self-study, i.e. working on what you have learned at home or at another location outside of school, or preparing for lessons. All of this takes time, but is extremely important in order to increase the learning success of your continuing education, further training and to achieve your goals. You should also always ask yourself why you are seeking such continuing education, further training. What do you expect from such a course? What professional changes do you want to achieve with coaching training and how do you want these to be implemented in your day-to-day work? Would you like to become self-employed, change jobs or move up with your current employer? Once you have clarified these questions for yourself and found an answer to at least most of them, training to become a coach might actually be suitable for you. People who want to work in this field in the future should be open to new ideas and willing to take a close look at themselves. Because before you are ready to advise other people, it is important that you get to know yourself and allow change and development processes to take place.
