Tipps und Entscheidungshilfen für die Ausbildungswahl

New leadership is a modern management style for employees that aims for flat hierarchies and is not about delegating within rigid structures, but rather about training and promoting personal responsibility. A manager is therefore no longer the classic person who gives orders, but has instead become an accompanying coach.

New Leadership is part of a series of other modern leadership terms that attempt to meet the requirements of the new digital working world or Work 4.0. These include agile leadership, digital leadership and shared leadership, for example. The concepts behind these methods are not mutually exclusive, but rather can complement each other.

A leader in the sense of New Leadership knows how to motivate their employees for their work. Such intrinsic motivation is valuable when employees are motivated by the work itself and do not need an external incentive.

New Leadership also aims to ensure that managers and employees meet on an equal footing. However, this also means that managers have to relinquish some of their control and power - this is replaced by an increased relationship of trust with employees, for example that they will act and make decisions in the interests of the company.

Participants in New Leadership training or further training learn, among other things, what it means to motivate, encourage creativity and inspire employees in the digital age. In short: that they enjoy their work and support them in their development. They also learn what new leadership and empathy have to do with each other and how management/leadership at eye level can be successful. To this end, participants also learn about the necessary opportunities for dialog and the central importance of work culture.

Would you like to find out more about New Leadership? What does this method have to do with work-life balance, for example? Or are you interested in improving your leadership skills to set yourself apart from the competition? Then you've come to the right place with training on this topic.

Questions and answers

The content of a New Leadership training course can vary depending on the training provider. However, the aim is always to prepare participants for the requirements of modern leadership in the digital and cultural change. As a rule, the focus is on the following topics:

  • Leadership 4.0 - Leadership in times of digitalization, networking and agility
  • Innovation culture - strategies to promote creativity and change in the company
  • Future world of work - trends such as remote work, hybrid teams and new working models
  • Digital corporate culture - values, communication and collaboration in the digital space
  • Leadership and motivation - developing and motivating people in a targeted manner
  • Leadership in times of crisis - attitude and ability to act in uncertain situations
  • New Work - principles for a self-determined, meaningful working environment

These topics provide practical knowledge for a future-oriented leadership role - whether in start-ups, SMEs or corporations. Leaders today must be able to actively shape change and inspire employees.

New Leadership training teaches you leadership skills that are in high demand in times of digital developments and changes in management style and work culture. A classic management style based on the top-down principle is becoming increasingly outdated; what is needed are managers with the skills and competencies to encourage employees to empower themselves and take responsibility, or to motivate them to recognize their strengths and use them skilfully.

With New Leadership training, you can demonstrate your knowledge and position yourself professionally against the competition.

The admission requirements for New Leadership training are not uniformly regulated by the federal government, but can vary from provider to provider.

In order to be able to take part in a New Leadership course at a university of applied sciences, for example, a university degree and relevant professional experience on the subject are usually required. Other educational paths can often be recognized via the sur dossier route, i.e. through an individual assessment of the personal background.

The duration of a New Leadership course depends on the provider and the scope of the course and can therefore vary (greatly).

A CAS course usually lasts 1 semester. In-school certificate courses can last from a few days to several weeks, rarely months. It is best to contact the provider of your choice directly.

Leadership is changing. Terms such as New Management, New Work and New Leadership are no longer just buzzwords, but are increasingly being put into practice. As a result, work culture is not only undergoing a major process of change in line with digital developments, but more and more people are appreciating and focusing on a good work culture. Companies see themselves challenged to consciously shape or reshape this accordingly in order not to lose their attractiveness. New Leadership is embedded in this trend in that leadership is no longer based on the classic top-down principle, where the boss gives orders and the employees are merely executors. Instead, the aim of a manager in New Leadership is to accompany and empower people. They ensure that an environment or framework is created in which employees can exchange ideas in a targeted manner and thus develop. New leaders support their employees in recognizing their own skills and strengths and using them accordingly. This makes them more motivated, more satisfied, more creative and more loyal. In times of dynamic change, this is of central importance.
