College of Higher Education for Social Pedagogy Zizers
The core task of social pedagogues is to provide professional support to individuals or groups whose independent living and social integration is difficult, at risk or impossible. Traditionally, this has mainly taken place in inpatient or day-care settings, but these are increasingly being replaced by outpatient or open settings.
The support aims to relieve people who are overwhelmed by their social environment or who are overwhelmed by it by providing supportive, supplementary or substitute structures and to support them in coping with everyday life independently according to their resources.
Social pedagogues carry out their tasks with clients of all ages. They also make a valuable contribution in outpatient socio-educational fields of work such as integration projects, meeting places, youth and leisure centers, schools and families in order to counteract or prevent social exclusion and ensure social integration.
